Martin Ward Test Drives the new Peugeot RCZ
Our motoring expert test drives the new Peugeot RCZ and finds it a ride worth waiting for – Sentinella Pimp value 10/10
The all-new RCZ Coupe has very little competitors: Audi TT, Volkswagen Scirocco and Hyundai Coupe, so should do well in the market.
Peugeot have wisely decided to change their policy on badging and for the first time have decided not to use the traditional ‘0’ and ‘00’ and gone for the ‘RCZ’ naming, which does suit the car and makes it sound something special, which it most certainly is.
The RCZ is built in Graz, Austria at the Magna Steyr plant to a very high standard. The interior is up to a high quality with fit and finish almost as good as the German premium brands. The rear seats though, like the TT are tiny, and trying to fit in two adults is almost impossible, but for small kids on a short journey it is adequate.
The exterior styling is brilliant and looks great from every angle. The roof has got what Peugeot describe as a ‘Double-Bubble’ and this really sets the car off, and makes it look very different to anything else on the road.
The RCZ drives as well as it looks: road holding is superb and there is plenty of power from whichever you choose. The steering is positive and the car feels safe and solid.
